I am happy to announce that we are now going to start our tenth year program of formal archery instruction. The classes will be conducted by certified archery instructors and experienced archers from Harrisburg Archery Club. The classes will begin as very basic instruction and progress with each archer at their own skill and interest level. Archers will learn archery safety, bow & arrow terminology, tournament procedures, basic form and technique, and advanced skills. It is the intention of Harrisburg Archery Club to develop skilled archers that may go on to compete in local, state and national competition but some archers may just want to have some fun or develop hunting skills and that is OK too.
The first class will be on Thursday October 06, 2022 and then each Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. The classes will be approximately one hour each. Classes will continue through December 29, 2022. The classes are open to children nine years old and older and to adults. Even an experienced archer who never had formal training will benefit from the instruction. In past years we had about 60/40% of children and adults. Parents of children under the age of 16 will be required to stay at the class for at least the first two classes.
At the first class each participant and parents of a minor (ages 9 to 17) will be required to sign a liability waiver and will be given a schedule and further instructions and materials. It is not required to have your own bow or accessories. Harrisburg Archery Club will provide all the archery equipment and materials needed for the classes but archers may bring their own equipment if they have. Cost for the instruction classes is: $20. ea. per class In the past class size was limited to 15 archers max per class and we did fill up so we are allowing more this year.
